About SPICe+ Part A

The SPICe+ (Simplified Proforma for Incorporating Company electronically Plus) form consolidates 11 services from 3 Central Government ministries. Part A focuses exclusively on company name reservation, while Part B covers all other incorporation services. Both parts can be filed simultaneously or separately.

For existing companies wishing to change their name, the Reserve Unique Name (RUN) web service is used instead of SPICe+ Part A.

Information captured in Part A

  • Type of company (Private Limited, OPC, Public Limited, etc.)
  • Class of company (small, non-small)
  • Category (government, non-government, Section 8)
  • Main division of industrial activity (NIC code)
  • Proposed company name(s) — up to 2 if filing Part A alone, 1 if simultaneously with Part B

When documents must be attached

  • If the name includes regulated terms like "Bank", "Insurance", "Mutual Fund" — regulatory approvals and NOCs are required
  • For subsidiaries of foreign companies — a certified Board Resolution and NOC from the parent company are mandatory
  • In all other cases, document attachment in Part A is optional

How to submit SPICe+ Part A

Log in to the MCA portal with valid credentials

Go to MCA Services → Company Services → SPICe+ Part A

Fill in company type, class, category, NIC code, and proposed name(s)

Attach documents if required (NOC, Board Resolution for foreign subsidiary)

Submit — a Service Request Number (SRN) is generated immediately

Pay ₹1,000 fee within 7 days (else SRN is auto-cancelled)

Receive name approval or rejection by email from the Central Registration Centre (CRC)

Frequently asked questions

If filing Part A alone: up to 2 proposed names. If filing Part A and Part B simultaneously: only 1 name can be proposed. The CRC approves a single name.
A reserved name is valid for 20 days from the date of CRC approval. You can extend this by paying ₹3,000 for an additional 20 days (40 days total).
DSC is not mandatory for name reservation alone. However, if filing Part A and Part B simultaneously, your Class-3 DSC should be ready.
The fee is non-refundable. For simultaneous Part A + B filing, you can resubmit with a new name without paying additional charges.
